One of the perks of living in Hawaii is our year-round, picture-perfect weather. It’s almost always a great day to go to the beach and unlike the mainland, we don’t require seasonal clothes because t-shirts and slippers can be worn 365 days a year.
One drawback, however is our warm summer nights. Most studies show that 60 to 67 degrees is optimal for sleeping. A cool temperature promotes a deeper, more restful sleep. Also, people in cooler rooms sleep longer and feel more awake in the morning. Temperatures above 75 degrees and below 54 degrees is disruptive and decreases slow wave sleep.
The good news is that today’s cutting-edge sleep technology gives us a lot of options to obtain a good night’s sleep even in our balmy heat.
